Fiber Club FAQ

What is this Club?

Clubs are a chance to get a specially fiber each month. Some months will feature fibre bases or new styles of dyeing (including natural dyes). Club colours are unique and are not repeated for non-club customers, so you're getting something special--and in general, you're getting it at a cost savings when compared to the regular price of fiber + shipping!

How do you decide the colours each month?

When club launched, it was a "See the World" club, with each colourway inspired by a photo from my travels. The photo inspirations will continue, but they may not always be travel photos--or they may not be MY travel photos. After all, there's a lot of world out there and I haven't seen it all yet, so I may have to borrow some inspiration on occasion!

What if I don't like this month's colour?

The colours and the fiber base are a surprise each month. This means that you may get some colourways that are outside your comfort zone. Many spinners enjoy this surprise, but occasionally you will get a colourway that you just don't want to use.

If this happens, you're welcome to trade or sell your fiber as you would with anything you don't enjoy. One suggestion: come by the Ravely group and post a message in the trade me thread. You may find that the colour that wasn't for you is someone else's favourite thing, and they might be willing to trade you for another colour that is YOUR favourite thing!

How do subscriptions work?

To receive fiber for a given month, you need to subscribe no later than the last day of the previous month. The payments will automatically renew on the same date each month, so please be aware of the date when you sign up. If you sign up on December 1, you will NOT receive club until January. I recommend signing up in the last week of a month so that the wait between payment and receiving your club won't be too long!

Subscriptions now have no fixed end date--they will automatically renew on the same day each month until you cancel them. To cancel, you can use the unsubscribe button on the club sign-up page or you can log in to your PayPal account and cancel from there.

When does club come each month?

I time the club releases each month with the meetings of the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Guild so that I can deliver club to local members there. The Guild meets on the second Tuesday of the month, so club will ship no later than that date. (Note: the Guild does not meet in the summer. Club will still ship by the second Tuesday of each month, but local members will need to make other arrangements for picking up their orders!) You can check in on the Ravelry group to find the exact date of shipment each month.

Shipping times vary widely depending on where you live (and the current mood of postal workers). To destinations in Canada, the US, and the UK most shipments take 6-10 days. However, it is not uncommon for packages to occasionally take 2 weeks.

My club shipment hasn't arrived. What do I do?

First, log in to PayPal and confirm that your payment was made on time. Sometimes if your PayPal information changes (new credit card, new expiry date on credit card, not enough money in your PayPal account, etc.) the payment will not go through on time. If there was a problem with your payment, contact me.

If your payment was made on time, first check the calendar. Remember, club usually ships on the second Tuesday of the month. Although shipping times can be as short as a few days after that, it is not unheard of for shipments to take 2 weeks to arrive in some destinations. If you check the dates and verify that it has been more than 2 weeks since the shipment date and your package hasn't arrived, please contact me.

I really love this club. How can I get more each month?

Well first, THANKS! I'm so glad you enjoy your club fibers. I'm happy to help you get your hands on more each month. For a second dose of fiber, there is no additional postage charge. The easiest way to do this is to sign up for your first dose as normal, but then add a subscription to the LOCAL yarn or fiber club, as this does not include shipping charges.

If you have any difficulties adding a second subscription, please email me and I'll try to help you out!
